Ashley Erickson
Twenty-three year old Ashley Erickson is now in her third triathlon season. A swimmer throughout high school and her first year of college, Ashley transitioned into the multi-sport world in 2006. Highlights from her first season include winning her first Olympic distance race, March Triathlon Series West Coast Collegiate Triathlon Championships, being named female West Coast Collegiate Triathlon Conference Individual Omnium for 2005/06, and being recognized as an All American by USA Triathlon.
Ashley graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a B.A. in Political Science in 2006. During her second multi-sport season she competed in triathlons as an age group athlete, and raced as a Cat 4 cyclist with the Velo-Bella Kona team. She placed first in her age group in the Olympic distance race at Wildflower Triathlon, and 11th in her age group at USA Triathlon Age Group Championships. She also competed in her first ITU Triathlon World Championships in Hamburg Germany, finishing in 40th place.
This year Ashley entered the Masters in Public Health program at UC Los Angeles. She is racing as a UCLA collegiate athlete during the school year, and is looking forward to racing as an age-grouper this summer. She is enjoying training this year under the guidance of her new coach, Gareth Thomas.
One of Ashley's favorite things about being a triathlete is the opportunity to train and race with amazing athletes. She loves the color pink, and can usually be identified at races by her pink bike tires, pink helmet, pink water bottles, and pink socks.
