Grant Riddell
I'm a 19 year old Rally driver born and raised in Milton, Ontario. I'm also a student at Humber College in Toronto studying Health & Fitness promotion, and am interested in further specializing in athletic developement. I'm convinced the reason I've been successful in Rally this year has been from my training program. I think to be successful in any sport you need to train like a true athlete, and I'm really thankful to be partnered with a company like Fluid that has allowed me to progress my physical and mental conditioning.
Before Rally I was a competitive tournament paintball player, and the highlight of my paintball career was playing in the 2009 PSP World Cup of Paintball with the Rockstar Canadian Factory Team.
This was my first season competing in real Performance Rally. I compete in a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer in Production class, which limits modifications to the cars performance. Currently (with one race left in the season), I'm leading the 2010 Ontario Performance Rally Championship (OPRC) for Production class, 2nd in the 2010 Canadian Rally Championship (CRC) for Production, and am leading the 2WD North American Championship. My goals for this year were to win these 3 championships in the same year, and be the youngest driver to win any of them.
Next season I will be stepping up to Group 5, which is turbocharged 2WD. I'll be competing for the Overall 2WD Championship in the Canadian Rally Championship, and if I can get enough funding in the off season, I'll be fighting for an X-Games invite in the RallyCar US National series.
I never thought I'd get the opportunity to Rally at my age, so I'd like to thank all my sponsors that have helped get me this far:
Fluid, Wreckage Clothing, Mitsubishi Motors, Skeletal Metal Jewelry, Go Pro Action Cam, Function Racing, Performance Motorsport Services, and most importantly, my friends and family in Milton who have always supported me.

About Me
I was born on April 1, 1987 in Redding, CA. I began racing karts at the age of 10 with an old QRC dirt track kart that we converted to a road racing kart. After a few races, we switched to an Emmick Cadet kart running Junior 1 Briggs in Region 11 IKF. We immediately started succeeding, finishing in the top 5 in my first race against 15 other drivers. I won the Shasta Kart Klub Championship in 2000 in Junior 2 Briggs, and then again in 2001. I finished fourth in points for IKF Region 11 Junior 2 Briggs after missing many races in 2002, but came back in 2003 to finish 2nd in points.
2003 was a big year, with many ups and downs. 2 races left in the season, I suffered severe injuries in a race in Reno, NV during a Jr. Superbox race. It left me in the hospital for the night, and a ball of wrecked go kart. Had it not been for that, we might have won the championship, as we lost by only a small amount that year. I also competed in the 2003 Road Race Grand Nationals, which were held at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, CA. I set fast lap in both Jr Sit-up Light, and Heavy, but finished second and third that weekend. Slightly after that I made my transition to cars, running a Pro7 Mazda RX7 car in Northern and Southern California.
I won 3 of the 5 races I entered that year, finished 2nd and 3rd in the other two. This year, I have been driving a 2001 Pontiac Firebird in SCCA National Competition. I finished 5th in my first race in the car, out qualifying last years' Runoff's pole sitter. I have finished on the podium a few other times this year, but hope to travel back to Kansas for the Runoffs to see what I can do.
In the recent year and a half, I have competed in the Formula SAE collegiate competition, ran some Camaro-Mustang Challenge events, some ITE events, and even a 4 hour endurance race at Laguna Seca.
Future
I want to make it in some form of racing. I am currently going to school at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA, going for a degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a concentration in Race-car Vehicle Dynamics and fabrication. I, of course, want to make a career out of driving, but my goal isn't necessarily Formula 1. I just want to be good at what I'm doing, and enjoy my time racing. I would love to be running any form of pro racing.
Whether it be Formula cars, or heavy sedans, I think I have what it takes, I know I can drive, I just need the opportunity to be noticed! If for some reason the position of driver isn't open, I would love to just work for a team, and practice some engineering. If you think you can help me achieve my goals, please contact me!
